Getting more fruit in your diet will help prevent stroke.
People who ate almost one pound of fruit a day (about 5 apples per day),
had a 40% lower risk of ischemic stroke, which occurs when a clot blocks an artery, than those who ate one-third of a pound of fruit per day.
The theory is: The antioxidants, minerals and fiber found in fruit help prevent stroke by fighting common risk factors, such as elevated blood pressure and cholesterol.
