Took 2 days to build and is virtually unaffected by the wind

Schwinn S1000 Electric Scooter Drive shaft
On todays run with the dog, we nearly made it home and the drive shaft sheared off. We had to walk home.
After some disassembly, the shaft was in two pieces. Taking the parts to my lathe, I faced them off, drilled, & tapped
both sides and ran a 1/4-20 threaded rod piece between both parts.
The shaft was keyed in two places, one at the gear and one inside the rim of the wheel hub.
Screwing the newly turned parts went easily and held them both in a "V" grooved vice to keep straight in order
to weld. Ground off the extra weld concentric to the shaft and polished lightly with emery cloth.
After an hour or so of re-assembly and alignment...........SUCCESS !!!
Now it works just fine and I don't have to pay $170.00 for a new motor and gearbox....
